Sign in with your lock brand's app, pick which lock each property uses, and let Staykey set door codes for every stay, with no hub at the property.
A cloud account is the account you already use with your lock's own app, such as Yale, Schlage, Kwikset or August. Connect it once and Staykey can set and remove door codes on its locks, with no hub at the property.
Before you start, know what this route does:
Need remote unlock, thermostats, or more devices with no per-device fee? Use Home Assistant instead. A property can use both. For help choosing, see supported smart locks.
One sign-in covers all of your properties. You only connect each account once.
Each lock can be used at one property. From the account on the Integrations page:
You can also start from the property. Open it, click Browse catalog, and choose Set up on the Cloud accounts card. Staykey opens Add a lock, where you can pick from an account you've already connected (click Use, then pick the lock) or sign in to a new one.
Staykey checks each lock before adding it. A lock that's greyed out shows why:
Every property includes one device connected through a cloud account, at no extra cost, including during your free trial. On the property's Cloud accounts page, each lock is tagged Included or Extra · $6/mo.
To add a second lock at the same property:
Remove the device any time to stop the charge. See understanding your billing for how it appears on your invoice.
An extra device can't be added when:
If you need more devices now, Home Assistant connects unlimited devices with no per-device fee.
Every way of adding a lock offers a Use for new stays switch. Turn it on and new stays at that property get a door code on that lock automatically.
It's off by default. If you leave it off, the lock is managed by Staykey but new stays won't get a code on it until you add it to the property's Default stay devices (in the property's Access settings). See renaming and managing devices.
To remove one lock from a property: open the property's Cloud accounts page and remove the lock. Staykey removes the door codes it set on that lock, then stops managing it. The lock stays in your cloud account, so you can add it again later.
To disconnect a whole account: on Integrations, click Disconnect on the account. Staykey lists every property that loses its lock, then removes the door codes it set on those locks. If Staykey can't remove the codes, nothing is disconnected, and you can try again.
If a lock brand ends Staykey's sign-in, the account shows Sign in again instead of Connected, the Integrations page lists it under Needs attention, and you get an Integration Disconnected notification. Click Sign in again and sign in to the brand as before.
A code was changed or deleted in the brand's app. If someone edits or deletes a Staykey code in the lock's own app, Staykey notices. You get an Access Code Failed notification, and the activity feed shows Codes on [lock] changed outside Staykey. Retry the code (from the activity entry, the stay's Lock programming card, or the lock's row on a pass) and Staykey puts it back. To avoid this, manage Staykey's codes in Staykey, not in the brand's app.
The lock won't add. Check the reason shown next to the lock (above). If it says the lock doesn't support door codes, it can't be managed through a cloud account. Through Home Assistant, a Z-Wave lock is the route with guaranteed code management.
"Couldn't reach your lock provider." The lock brand's cloud didn't answer. Try again in a few minutes.
A lock is no longer in its cloud account. If a lock is removed from the brand's app, Staykey flags it as missing. Remove it from the property, then add it again once it's back in the account.
A guest's code didn't work. Start with why didn't my door lock code work?. Remember that cloud-account locks can't be unlocked remotely, so keep a backup way in, such as a lockbox.
