This page documents how Staykey collects consent for SMS text messaging to property hosts and cleaning professionals.

Staykey is a property management platform for short-term rental hosts. We send operational SMS notifications to two audiences:
All messages are transactional — no marketing or promotional content is sent. Messages are only sent to users who have provided their own phone number and given explicit opt-in consent.
During account onboarding, hosts optionally enter their phone number. When a phone number is provided, an explicit consent checkbox appears with the following disclosure:
"By checking this box, you consent to receive SMS messages from Staykey, including booking notifications and operational alerts. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time, HELP for help. View our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service."
Consent is recorded with a UTC timestamp. Hosts can also manage their phone number and SMS consent from their account settings at any time.
Cleaning professionals complete a separate onboarding flow after accepting an invitation from a property host. During this flow, they enter their own phone number and see the same consent checkbox and disclosure text shown above. The cleaner enters their own information directly — no third party provides their phone number on their behalf.
Both hosts and cleaning professionals can enable or disable SMS notifications per notification type from their account settings at any time. Users can also update their phone number or withdraw SMS consent entirely from their account profile.
Below are examples of the types of SMS messages sent to users. All messages are prefixed with "Staykey:" for brand identification.
New Booking
Staykey: New booking at "Beach House". Check-in Jan 10, Check-out Jan 15. Guest: John D.
Cleaning Escalation
Staykey: All configured cleaners declined the cleaning request for "Beach House" — manual action required
Device Alert
Staykey: Front door lock at "Beach House" is offline. Check device connection.
Integration Alert
Staykey: Calendar sync for "Beach House" failed. Reconnect in account settings.
Confirmation Request
Staykey: Cleaning at "Beach House" between Jan 5 – Jan 8. Confirm by Jan 3. https://s.staykey.co/abc12345
Day-of Reminder
Staykey: Reminder — "Beach House" cleaning today. https://s.staykey.co/abc12345
Completion Check

After a user checks the SMS consent checkbox and submits their profile, they receive a confirmation message:
Opt-In Confirmation
Staykey: You're now subscribed to property management notifications. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.
Reply STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, or QUIT to any message to unsubscribe.
Opt-Out Response
Staykey: You've been unsubscribed from Staykey SMS notifications. You will no longer receive text messages. Reply START to re-subscribe.
Reply HELP to any message for assistance.
