Build cleaning checklist templates, set an org default, override it per property, and require photos so your cleaner shows the work, not just claims it.
A cleaning checklist tells your cleaner exactly what "done" means at each property: which rooms, which tasks, and which tasks need a photo as proof. You write it once as a template, and Staykey attaches it to every turnover at the properties that use it.
Checklists replace the old free-text cleaning instructions field. Cleaning checklists are part of Staykey Cleans on the ProHost plan.
You can also give each template a color and an icon, which makes them easy to tell apart in the sidebar.
Every room and task has a drag handle. Drag rooms into the order your cleaner walks the house, and drag tasks within a room into the order they make sense. Click Save template when you're done.
Each task has a photo toggle that switches between Photo required and Photo off. When a task requires a photo, the cleaner has to capture one before they can check that task off.
Use this on the tasks you actually want to see: the made beds, the stocked coffee station, the hot tub cover, the trash taken out. A handful of photo checks is more useful than a photo on everything.
One template can be your organization's default. Open the template and click Set default. It gets a Default badge in the sidebar.
Every property follows the org default unless you give it its own checklist.
The first option, Org default, followed by the default's name, keeps the property on whatever your default is, including if you change the default later. Picking a template by name pins the property to that template, even if the org default changes.
If you haven't created any templates yet, this setting shows a Create a checklist button instead.
At the bottom of a template, use Duplicate to make a copy you can adapt for another property, or Delete template to retire one you no longer use. Deleting can't be undone.
When your cleaning company confirms a turnover, Staykey copies the property's checklist onto that job. On their job screen, the checklist is labeled Set by host with your organization's name, and it's read-only: they work through it, but they can't edit it.
As they go, they tick off tasks room by room and add photos where you've required them. They can't mark the job done until every task and every required photo is in.
Because the checklist is copied when the job is confirmed, editing a template later changes future turnovers. It doesn't change jobs that are already on your cleaner's schedule.
If a cleaning is reported late with tasks or photos missing, the cleaning's details show a recap of what was missing and the cleaner's reason. See Understanding the Cleaning Status Flow.
