Find out what happened at a property: who unlocked a door, whether a code made it onto the lock, and why something failed, in your own time zone.
Activity in the sidebar shows what happened at your properties: doors locked and unlocked, codes set and cleared, stays imported, and anything that went wrong. It's the first place to look when a guest says the code didn't work.
Each stay and each access pass also has its own activity, showing only what happened for that stay or pass.
Every entry is one thing that happened, and says who did it, how, and how sure Staykey is.
A few entries are worth knowing on sight:
When Staykey retries a code, the attempts fold into a single entry rather than one entry per try.
Click any entry to open its details. The drawer shows Who, How, the Device, the Property, When, and its Status, with a link to the stay when there is one.
For a code that failed, the drawer explains what went wrong in plain words and lists each attempt. When a retry can help, click Retry now. For a guest code, Change code takes you to the stay.
Entries that explain themselves do so here too. A jam, for example, says the bolt couldn't fully extend or retract, and that the next successful lock or unlock clears it.
The feed shows times in your own time zone. When a property is in a different one, the drawer also shows Property time, what the clock at the property read.
The feed records everything. Staykey only notifies you about the things worth hearing about:
| Notification | When | Opens |
|---|---|---|
| Guest Arrived | The guest used their code for the first time | The stay |
| Unknown Code Used | A code Staykey doesn't manage unlocked a door | The activity entry |
| Keypad Locked Out | A lock disabled its keypad after repeated wrong codes | The activity entry |
| Lock Jammed | A lock reported a jam that was still there 15 minutes later | The activity entry |
| Access Code Failed | A code couldn't be set on a lock. You get one per stay or pass, not one per lock. | The activity entry |
A jam that clears on the next try doesn't notify you. A notification that opens the activity entry takes you straight to its details.
You choose how each notification reaches you on your Account page (the Account button in your account menu), under notification preferences. By default, Keypad Locked Out and Access Code Failed come by email as well as in the app; the others are in-app only.
The feed shows an unlock nobody remembers. Open it and check How. At the device means someone turned the lock by hand, and Likely means Staykey is inferring who.
A code shows Failed. Read the reason in the drawer. If the lock was offline, bring it back online and click Retry now. For more, see why didn't my door lock code work? and device not responding.
Lock events look wrong on a Home Assistant property. Update the Staykey integration in Home Assistant. Version 1.8 or later gives the most accurate feed. See installing the Staykey Home Assistant plugin.
