Device Not Responding

If a device stops responding in Staykey, follow these steps to diagnose and fix the issue:

Initial Checks

• Device Power: Ensure the device is powered on and has sufficient battery
• Hub Connection: Verify your Home Assistant hub is online and accessible
• Network Status: Check your local network is functioning properly
• Device Status: Look at the device status in Home Assistant to see if it shows as "unavailable"

Z-Wave Specific Issues

• Range: Z-Wave devices may be out of range. Try moving the device closer to the hub
• Network Heal: In Home Assistant, try running a Z-Wave network heal to improve routing
• Re-interview: Re-interview the device in Home Assistant to refresh its status
• Remove/Re-add: As a last resort, remove and re-add the device to the Z-Wave network

Home Assistant Connection

• Integration Status: Check that your Home Assistant integration is connected in Staykey
• Refresh Connection: Try disconnecting and reconnecting the Home Assistant integration
• API Access: Verify your Home Assistant API token is still valid
• URL Access: Ensure Staykey can still reach your Home Assistant URL

Device-Specific Solutions

• Locks: Check battery level, try manual operation, verify code slots aren't full
• Thermostats: Check power source, verify wiring connections, try factory reset
• Switches: Check circuit breaker, verify wiring, test manual operation
• Garage Doors: Check sensor alignment, verify opener connection, test wall button

Prevention

To prevent devices from going offline:

• Keep devices within range of your Z-Wave hub
• Replace batteries proactively before they die
• Maintain a stable network connection
• Regularly check device status in Home Assistant
