Getting Started
Updated April 20, 2026• ~2 min readAdd the Host Dashboard to Your Phone's Home Screen
Install app.staykey.co on iOS or Android so the host dashboard launches like a native app — one tap, full screen, no browser chrome.
Why add the dashboard to your home screen?
The Staykey host dashboard at app.staykey.co works great in a browser, but you can also install it to your phone's home screen so it launches like a native app:
- One-tap access from your home screen, right next to your other apps
- Full-screen — no browser address bar or tabs taking up space
- Dedicated icon so it's easy to spot when you're managing a turnover on the go
- Stays signed in — sign in once with Auth0 and the app remembers you between launches
There's nothing to download from the App Store or Play Store — Staykey is a progressive web app (PWA), so your phone's browser handles the install.
Before you start — use the right browser
This matters. The "Add to Home Screen" option only shows up in certain browsers:
- iPhone / iPad: Use Safari. Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and in-app browsers on iOS cannot install home-screen apps — this is an Apple restriction.
- Android: Use Chrome. (Samsung Internet works similarly, but the steps below are for Chrome.)
If you're reading this on a phone from Gmail, Slack, or another app's built-in browser, tap through to open it in Safari (iOS) or Chrome (Android) before following the steps below.
iOS (iPhone and iPad)
- Open Safari — not Chrome, Firefox, or any other browser.
- Go to https://app.staykey.co and sign in if you haven't already.
- Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen (the square with an arrow pointing up).
- Scroll down in the share sheet and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Confirm the name (it will default to StayKey) and tap Add in the top-right.
You should now see the StayKey icon on your home screen. Tap it and the dashboard opens full-screen, just like a native app.
Android
- Open Chrome.
- Go to https://app.staykey.co and sign in if you haven't already.
- Tap the ⋮ menu button in the top-right of Chrome.
- Tap Add to Home screen or Install app (the wording depends on your Chrome version).
- Confirm the name and tap Add or Install.
Chrome will drop the StayKey icon onto your home screen. On most Android devices you'll also be given the option to drag it wherever you want it.
After installing
- The first time you open the installed app it will sign you in through Auth0. After that, it stays signed in between launches.
- Enable your phone's biometric or passcode unlock for an extra layer of security — the dashboard controls door codes and smart devices, so you want it locked down.
- Updates are automatic. Because it's a PWA, you'll always get the latest version of the dashboard without needing to update anything from an app store.
Troubleshooting
"Add to Home Screen" isn't showing up on iOS
- Make sure you're in Safari, not Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or an in-app browser (links opened from Mail, Slack, or similar apps often open in an in-app browser).
- Refresh the page and try again.
- Confirm the URL is
app.staykey.co (the dashboard), not staykey.co (the marketing site).
"Install app" isn't showing up on Android
- Make sure you're in Chrome.
- Refresh the page.
- If the option still doesn't appear, try Add to Home screen from the ⋮ menu instead — some Chrome versions label it differently.
The icon looks like a screenshot of the page instead of the StayKey logo
- This usually means the page didn't fully load before you added it. Remove the icon, load the dashboard again, wait for it to finish, and re-add it.
